Smart uses of dungeon tokens

Firstly, you should already know that dungeon tokens are an easy way to get level 80 exotic gear. Simply trade them at the relevant dungeon merchant. However, over time, you might end up with a lot of tokens from certain dungeons and no need for any corresponding gear. Therefore, below are some ways to use them.

Salvaging

Salvaging exotic dungeon gear has a chance to give the following:

• Globs of Ectoplasm (Ectos). Rare crafting material only aquired through salvaging or trading, used in most end game recipes.
• Globs of Dark Matter. Rare crafting material only aquired through salvaging, used in ascended recipes.
• Tier 5 and 6 crafting materials.
• Insignias or inscriptions. Note that only stats combination that cannot be crafted can yield their corresponding insignia or inscription, see table below.

Forging

You can also use dungeon tokens to buy gear which you then put in the Mystic Forge in hope to get a valuable item. You have two ways to proceed:

• Forge 4 items of the same type (e.g. 4 Greatswords). This is the most expensive method but the result is guaranteed to be a level 80 exotic of the same kind.
• Forge 4 random weapons (e.g. 2 Warhorns and 2 Shields). This is the cheapest method since low cost items can be used but the result can be any level 80 exotic weapon. Notes:
  • armours can be used instead of weapons (but you cannot mix both).
  • a Mystic Forge Stone can be used to replace one of the item.
